Nope I wouldn't knowingly use a standard pollen filter as an odour filter is an upgrade on it. As you say only odour filters are now available from ford. People though who don't know the difference sometimes mistake a black odour filter as being black because its dirty rather than black because its carbon impregnated on 1 side.
