I've had both (a XChallenge for 5 years) and now the XCountry. I'm 6'1 and prefer the XCountry. Better ergo's, better seat and screens, fine for the odd trail or dualsport ride. Neither bike is hardcore and the airshock on the XChallenge is literally a pain in the ass, as is the seat. #10.
My 07 xcountry (29000km) used to start 100% with a quick touch of the button.. now i've noticed it starts but then will often stall a couple times. When it's idling cold and i give it a little throttle to rev it it can stall or idle irradically.
The XCountry might not have been particularly adept in the dirt, but it could handle the off-road, and owners could improve it a lot if they wanted. Really, it was a very useful and accessible all-rounder, the likes of which has not been sold in North America in the years since.
